Overview

A Success Story
The Company's business has grown from one small company owned outlet in Perth, Western Australia in July 1996, into a chain comprising Company owned offices in Perth, Sydney and London and Franchised Territories operating from offices across Australasia and Europe. The Company and franchised outlets now specialise in the hire of desktop pc's, notebooks, data projectors, training rooms, videoconferencing and other audiovisual and computer equipment.  Franchisees' faith in the business model developed by Hire Intelligence is indicated by the fact that eight Franchisees own multiple Franchise Territories.  The Company has a board and management team with a wealth of experience including a solid track record in operating in the franchise industry.  The Managing Director has more than 28 years experience as both a Franchisor and Franchisee having been a Financial Controller with KFC in South Africa and the United Kingdom, as well as successfully operating as a Chicken Treat Franchisee in Australia.  On 18 January 2002 Hire Intelligence International Limited listed on the Australian Stock Exchange with an issued capital of 77,032,957 ordinary shares of 50 cents each. It owns 100% of the equity of Cityside Asset Pty Ltd, the Franchisor.

Reasons for Success
The short term computer rental chain, with its distinctive logo, is well established, enjoying international recognition and unique market place points of difference. There are a number of factors behind the success of this company. It has developed intricate, but easy to operate, systems of management and control, including its unique integrated computer fleet management and accounting system (JBS), that greatly reduce the risks involved in renting computers. These systems have ensured the lowest possible level of overheads thus enabling pricing to be extremely competitive yet highly profitable. So efficient are these systems that equipment is sometimes pre-rented before it experiences.

Finance

In the U.K. the Franchise Fee varies between £32,000 and £40,000 depending on the area selected. Monthly franchise fees are payable and have been structured in such a way - with fixed and variable fees - as to assist franchisees to both set up and run a successful business; indeed, for the first 3 months of operating, there will be no fees payable! There is also an amount set aside each month for on-going advertising.

We do not insist on franchisees operating from business premises - which also reduces the costs in those important early days; many franchisees have started working from home and have only upgraded to business premises when growth has made the move necessary. We would point out that the business is "cash hungry" and, from our experience, the more capital available to be used in growing the business, the more successful a franchise will be.

Who is ideal?

Although a sales or technical background can be an advantage, the strength of the Hire Intelligence brand and reputation does not make this a pre-requisite. In practice, our franchisees have joined us from a wide variety of backgrounds, having excelled in previous occupations or businesses.

Ultimately, what makes the difference is a propensity to work hard at a proven business model in order to reap future rewards. It is reasonable to assume that minimal - if any- profits will be made in the first year, and you should have the means to support yourself whilst the business is developing. It is for this reason that we state that prospective franchisees must have a minimum net worth of £175,000.

Is Hire Intelligence right for you?

Hire Intelligence Franchisees need to be:
  • Determined to succeed for without determination they will not get anywhere in life.
  • Friendly with a winning smile, as customers prefer to deal with friendly people.
  • People who pay attention to detail to ensure that the correct goods are provided on time every time and that all paperwork is correctly processed.
  • Self-motivated. Franchisees need to set targets and go out there and achieve them.
  • Sufficiently computer literate to type word documents and use spreadsheets. If Franchisees cannot do these basic tasks our training course will prove too onerous for them.
  • Willing to phone and visit potential customers to ensure ongoing expansion of their business. Sitting and waiting for the phone to ring is not enough.
  • Physically fit and enjoy good health.
  • Confident to rely on their own efforts for their income and that of their employees.
  • Comfortable with following a proven flourishing business system and accept the disciplines of a franchise culture. Self-sufficient. Hire Intelligence provides excellent ongoing support for all its Franchisees and Master Franchisees but the nature of the business dictates that they will spend time on their own and therefore the personal strength of self-sufficiency is vital and fundamental.
  • Resilient and able to cope with setbacks. Every business and Franchise system, however good, experiences setbacks as well as successes. It is essential that they are able to address setbacks, determine the reasons for them, try to ensure they do not re-occur and bounce back stronger for the experience.
  • People with a general knowledge and understanding of business as well as experience in dealing with people at all levels.
