About Drinkmaster

Drinkmaster was founded in 1962 to capitalise on a novel packaging technique imported from the United States. The basic concept of the 'Drinkpac' has remained, almost unchanged, to the present day. We manufacture and distribute 37 varieties of hot and cold drinks with associated sundries to over 6,000 customers throughout the United Kingdom, with many thousands more overseas in 12 different countries. A million Drinkpacs a week are distributed either directly from our head office in Liskeard or via our network of distributors and franchisees. In addition, we supply dispensing equipment which is modern, unashamedly simple, and very economical to run.

Drinkmaster has achieved BS5750/IS09002 accreditation as well as receiving the prestigious gold award for hygienic merit from the Royal Institute of Public Health and Hygiene. The company are also full and active members of the Automatic Vending Association of Britain, Associate member of the British Franchise Association and accredited Investors In People. The Drinkmaster Franchise Opportunity was launched in the second half of 1995, and one of the pilot operations is now our longest running franchisee.

The market

The office hot beverage market is huge - estimated at £400 million for beverage ingredients with five billion drinks consumed every year. One of the most dynamic and exciting growth sectors within this market is the one for the smaller system such as Drinkmaster can offer. We have a wealth of product benefits that differentiate us from the competition and endear us to our customers. Our target market is the office/commercial sector employing between 5 and 30 people on site. This is the largest group of employers in the country with over one million businesses; yet it is the least penetrated sector by other beverage systems. Typically you will find a kettle or filter coffee machine, and Drinkmaster equipment offers many advantages over these systems.

The products

Drinkmaster provide 37 premium quality beverages which are sourced from around the world, including a range of blends of Coffee, Tea, Chocolate, Soup and soft drinks. The key to the consistent quality of the Drinkpac system lies in its uniquely sealed capsules, which not only give the Drinkpac it's two year shelf life, but preserves the flavour and aroma. Each capsule contains only the finest quality ingredients, skilfully blended to the traditional Drinkmaster recipes. We have a range of complimentary sundry products including plastic cups, stirrers, sugar sachets and biscuits. In addition there is a range of dispensing equipment that will suit a variety of locations from the shop floor staff area to the boardroom.

The franchise opportunity

Our franchisees build their businesses by acquiring sites for our products, and their day to day work involves sales, marketing, distribution, customer care and administration. In order to get up and running from day one our franchisees take over an existing client base which gives them instant turnover. Our franchise territories have a potential of at least 10,000 businesses, and we pass over between 20 and 60 customers to our franchisees depending upon the territory. The profit margin that these customers generate, will be shared between the company and the franchises, to enable the franchises to recover the vast majority of the franchise fee in year one.

The investment

The initial investment required is up to £10,300 + VAT which includes everything you will need to get started including IBM compatible computer and printer, display material training and opening stock. We recommend that franchisees have £3,500 working capital available although this figure will vary dependent on individual circumstances
